Chemical Specialist

We’re looking for Chemical Specialist to join our Sustainability team in our Head office in Nokia, Finland.

The global tire industry and our operating environment is changing constantly. Our Sustainability team operates in between these global requirements and our internal needs and processes. Your role will be essential in securing our future success in sustainability. You will be working in close collaboration with different functions inside the company as well as with various global high-level stakeholders.

Your main responsibilities:

• Developing Nokian Tyres’ chemical safety
• Ensuring that the requirements of chemical legislation are met in Nokian Tyres’ operations
• Implementation of measures related to the ISO 14001 environmental management system where applicable
• Supporting sustainability communication and corporate responsibility enquiries
• Steering the attitude of our personnel towards an even more safe and responsible way of operating

 What we expect from you:

• MinimumM.Sc. or similar degree in relevant field, for example chemical technology
• Fluent in Finnish and good in English, both oral and written
• Good knowledge of EU chemical legislation such as REACH and CLP
• Good knowledge of classification of chemicals and principles on creating safety data sheets
• Previous work experience in chemical safety management in industry
• Good communication and IT skills
• Good knowledge of procedures related to the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) requirements and chemical permits 
• The competence of a chemical operation supervisor and knowledge of the US chemical legislation are considered as an advantages
• Independent approach to work and ability to manage and respond quickly to multiple priorities while driving results and delivery against deadlines
